Chase Claypool angers Steelers fans with multiple judgment lapses!– OnMyWay Mobile App User News

It appears many Steelers fans have just about had it with Chase Claypool.

The second-year wideout caused a social media firestorm Thursday night after his multiple boneheaded plays cost his team in what ended as a 36-28 loss at Minnesota.

The night to forget began when Claypool shoved Vikings defender Bashaud Breeland at the end of a play on the Steelers first drive.

An unnecessary roughness call soon followed and nearly short-circuited the Steelers’ drive before Ben Roethlisberger extended it by converting on a fourth-and-four play with a clutch run. It was his eighth penalty of the season, which is a league high for wideouts.

No harm, in the end. But that didn’t save Claypool from a wave of criticism from fans and even Post-Gazette insider Ray Fittipaldo on social media.

Later, Claypool put the ball on the ground while being tackled and was saved from losing a fumble by a favorable replay review. Then, as Fittipaldo noted, he missed a block in the early going, too.

Unsurprisingly, voters in a Post-Gazette flash poll agreed it might be a good idea for Claypool to sit for a bit.

The receiver stayed in the game, though, later making some spectacular catches that helped the Steelers storm all the way back to within eight points on their final drive after falling behind by as many as 29 points. He finished the night with eight catches for 93 yards.

Unfortunately for him, it was his actions after his last catch that brought another wave of anger.

This time, Claypool celebrated after a fourth-and-1 catch with 42 seconds remaining in regulation rather that hand the ball to the official to get the offense in position to stop the clock with a spike.

The choice cost precious seconds on a drive that ultimately fell short as tight end Pat Freiermuth dropped a pass in the end zone as time expired, prompting an immediate backlash.

Claypool has found himself in the headlines in recent weeks for suggesting the Steelers change their long-standing tradition of banning music at practice and in the locker room.

He’s also stirred controversy in the past for smack talking the Steelers’ rival Cleveland Browns and dancing in a handful of viral TikTok posts.
