‘Graceland’ singer Paul Simon(16-time Grammy winner Paul Simon, whose songbook of hits is truly legendary) is to be honoured in a special concert called Homeward Bound: A GRAMMY Salute to the Songs of Paul Simon. The event will see a star-studded line-up performing many of Paul’s songs as a tribute to his amazing career.

The concert will feature a whole host of Grammy winners and nominees including Brandi Carlile, Rhiannon Giddens, Angélique Kidjo, Little Big Town, Dave Matthews, Brad Paisley, Billy Porter, Shaggy, Take 6, Irma Thomas, and Trombone Shorty.

This special concert will take place on 6th April at Hollywood Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles, will be shown on TV at a later date, which has not yet been revealed.

Paul has had a very successful career, both as part of Simon & Garfunkel and also as a solo artist with the release of his in 1986. He has also won a total of 16 Grammys a highly acclaimed album ‘Graceland’s well as many other awards, including two BRIT Awards in 1977 and 1987.

The special concert is named after the Simon & Garfunkel song ‘Homeward Bound’, released in 1966, which reached Number 9 in the UK. The song was on the duo’s third album, ‘Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme’ as well as the British version of their second album ‘Sounds of Silence’.

According to Ken Calvert, an American radio presenter, today marks the anniversary of ‘Homeward Bound’ entering the UK chart, he recently tweeted about it saying: ‘March 24, 1966 Simon & Garfunkel made their UK singles chart debut with ‘Homeward Bound.’ Paul Simon is said to have written the song at Farnworth railway station, Widnes, England, while stuck overnight waiting for a train. A plaque is displayed in the station to commemorate it.
