Mexico are one step away from the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup final, but they will be facing their toughest test yet as a full-strength Jamaica side looks to spring the upset in a Wednesday semifinal from Las Vegas.
The Reggae Boyz were two minutes away from defeating the defending Gold Cup champions USA in the tournament opener, and then promptly dispatched Trinidad and Tobago, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Guatemala (in the quarterfinals) to reach this stage.
Mexico qualified comfortably at the top of their group after wins in their first two games. Despite losing their final group game to Qatar with a reserve lineup, El Tri bounced back to handle a tough Costa Rica side in the quarterfinals.
Jamaica are seeking their first Gold Cup final berth since 2017, when they beat Mexico 1-0 in the semis. Mexico have made it to the last two Gold Cup finals, but last won it in 2019. The semifinal winner meets Panama in the final on July 16 at SoFi Stadium.
