MALL CHAOS Eden Prairie Center mall lockdown lifted after ‘shooting led cops to BODY’ inside Minnesota shopping center!– OnMyWay Mobile App User News

A MAN has been found dead inside a mall after police responded to reports of an active shooter inside the shopping center.

Police rushed to Eden Prairie Center mall after shoppers reported hearing gunfire in the Scheels sporting goods store. The mall in Minnesota went on lockdown as an “active shooter” was reported at around 7.25pm on Monday.

Cops surrounded the shopping center with dozens of police vehicles and fire trucks blocking parts of the parking lot. When cops got inside, they found a man dead inside Scheels from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

The mall lockdown was lifted at around 9.20pm but Scheels was expected to remain closed so that police can gather evidence. Police said that the shooting was “an isolated incident” and that “there is no danger to the public.”

According to cops, the area has been secured after they did a follow-up search of the mall.It is unclear at this time how many people were in the mall when the shot was fired.

One witness told KSTP that he was inside Scheels when a worker yelled: “Gun!”

“I heard one pop, it didn’t sound loud enough to be a gun,” he said. “I didn’t know what it was, but apparently it was a gunshot.” The witness described seeing everyone run out of the store.

Another man told FOX 9 that he saw someone snatch a gun from a case and run away. However, the police have not confirmed this. “It’s a tragic event when anyone loses a life, no matter how it happens,” Eden Prairie Police Chief Matt Sackett said.

Eden Prairie School buildings and offices were on a stay-put lockdown “out of an abundance of caution,” officials said. Outdoor activities were moved inside and no one was let out of the building until the school’s supervisors gave the all-clear.

All activities inside the building, however, continued as normal. The Eden Prairie Center mall was the location of the 1995 film Mallrats. The mall is 20 minutes away from Minnesota’s big city, Minneapolis.
